Varanasi: An intern Navneet Parashar at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi was found dead in Mirzapur district on Saturday. The body was found floating in Ganga near Kolhua ghat in Chilh area of Mirzapur.
The medico, resident of Gopalganj (Bihar) and 2015 batch student, mysteriously went missing from his hostel room. He had been seen going somewhere on his motorcycle on June 9. A missing report was lodged with Lanka police station by the BHU administration on the same day.

It came to light in police investigation that before leaving his hostel room he took away the photographs of Gods with him and also left his mobile phone in the room. In the past too he had gone missing for over a week last year. At that time, he had spent his time in Sarnath area.
According to Mirzapur SP Dharmvir Singh, the team of Vindhyachal police succeeded in recovering his body after exercising hard for past four days. The ASP City Prakash Swaroop Pandey and CO city Sudhir Kumar reached the spot after getting information. The police informed his father Manoj Parashar, who with other members had left for Mirzapur from Lalganj.

Mirzapur SP said that following the recovery of motorcycle in abandoned condition in forests of Vindhyachal area and its key from the steps of temple, the police had collected details about the case of missing from Lanka police in Varanasi. When the CCTV footages of Vindhyachal temple were checked Parashar was seen moving along the closed temple and ghat of Ganga in wet clothes between 1.35 pm and 1.35 pm on June 9. He said that after that the police teams had been searching Parashar in forests of Vindhyachal and also riverside. Prima facie it seemed to be a case of suicide, but the police are investigating the matter with all possible angles.
