Bhagalpur DM infected with coronavirus

Bhagalpur: The district magistrate Pranav Kumar has been tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. He has left for Patna for the treatment in higher medical institution on Saturday night.

According to official sources, he was advised by the local doctor to go higher medical institution for treatment.  Before leaving for Patna, he authorized Rajesh Jha ‘Raja’ to look into the daily affairs of the district in his absence.

According to the medical bulletin, so far, the district has recorded 915 positive cases of COVID-19 with four death. As many as 554 patients have recovered from illness, while 351 patients are under the observation of doctors.

The DM had ordered on July 9 for the lockdown in the district till July 16 in view of the rising cases on COVID-19. All the government and non-government establishments would remain closed in the district during this period. The essential service providers like district administration and treasury office, health department office/hospital, police, home guard, civil defence, fire and emergency services, disaster management, jail administration and election office, municipal corporation and local bodies, electric supply, water supply, and sanitization related works have been exempted from the restrictions.

The shops of food grains, fruit-vegetable and milk retail outlets and fodder shops would be allowed to function for four hours in the morning from 6 am and three hours in the evening from 4 pm. Any violation of this order would invite legal action.

All public transports would remain closed in the district. However, goods carriers, ambulance, and vehicles in use of government and essential services would be allowed with valid permission of the designated officer. The hospitals of public and private sectors, shops of medicine and surgical goods, laboratories, clinic, nursing home has been exempted from the restriction. The vehicles for the transportation of medical professionals, nurses and paramedics would be allowed.
