Varanasi: As many as 29 more persons were tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday increasing the tally to 525 in the district. One patient died during treatment. So far 20 persons died due to COVID-19 in the district.
According to the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, the report of 444 samples were received from BHU lab on Wednesday. A 55-year-old patient, who had also been diabetic for 10 years, died at BHU hospital on Tuesday late night.
As many as 14 patients, who recovered from illness, were discharged from the hospitals. So far 307 patients have recovered from illness. Presently, there are 198 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.
Meanwhile, in view of the sharp rise in COVID cases the sale of betal and guthkha was restricted. Besides, the marriage lawns, banquet halls and parks will remain closed for social gathering. the commercial even can be held only after the permission of authorities. Action would be initiated against the guardians if children below 10 are found moving out. Action would also taken against those found loitering on roads.
