Second COVID-19 positive case detected in Varanasi

 

Varanasi: A 30-year-old youth, resident of Chhataripur locality in Shivpur area, was tested COVID-19 positive on Saturday. It is the second case of COVID-19 positive in the district. Earlier, resident of Chitaura village in Pindra area was tested positive.

 

The youth has been admitted to the DDU District Hospital’s isolation ward. According to the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, the youth had been doing a job at a call centre in UAE since June 2019. He had returned to Varanasi through a direct flight from Sharjah on March 20. From the airport he went to his home in a taxi.

 

According to the DM, he remained quarantined in his home, and also avoided to visit the hospital, where his wife gave birth to a child three days ago. With cough like symptom he went to the DDU hospital, where his sample was taken on Friday and sent to the microbiology laboratory for testing. He test report as found positive on Saturday.

 

The other members of his family including wife, baby, parents and brother and sister-in-law have been put in home quarantine. Their samples would be taken for testing on Sunday.
