BHU holds Webinar on COVID-19: The Mahamana’s Indian Vision in Global Context
Varanasi: A three-day webinar on “COVID-19: The Mahamana’s Indian Vision in Global Context” organized by Mahamana Malaviya Mission, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Unit, began on Saturday.
The seminar was inaugurated by the union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is extremely important for an individual to remain connected with his roots. The ancient knowledge should become part of every discipline, he said.
Addressing the webinar, the chairman of University Grants Commission Prof. Dhirendra Pal Singh expressed his concern over coronavirus pandemic, and laid stress on moral responsibilities of citizens towards the nation. The joint general secretary of RSS Dr. Krishna Gopal also addressed the webinar.
The inaugural session was presided over by BHU vice-chancellor Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar. He highlighted the importance of maintaining hygiene and spreading awareness. He gave an overview on how teachers are contributing in fight against Covid-19 by facilitating students with online lectures and reading materials.
Earlier, Dr. Upendra Kumar Tripathi welcomed the participants, while Prof. Kavita Shah of the Institute of Environment & Sustainable Development introduced the theme of the seminar. The inaugural session was conducted by the organising secretary Prof. Suman Jain.
