Yogi promises no new tax
No thought of imposing any separate tax, and our focus is to give more relaxation to the public: Yogi
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday promises no new tax announcing that the state government is not intending to impose any new tax to deal with the economic impact of the coronavirus crisis.
Addressing a virtual press conference, Yogi said, “We have started our economic activities, and it is moving on rapidly. As compared to the previous month, this month’s revenue (collection) seems good.”
“Hence, there is no thought of imposing any separate tax, and our focus is to give more relaxation to the public, and boost industrial activities while following social-distancing,” Yogi said adding that the migrant labourers are the strength of the state. “UP is ready in this time of crisis for new investment. We will move the state forward on the path of new development with the help of our manpower,” he said adding that around 30 lakh migrant workers have returned to UP, which is higher in comparison to other states.
He said that works on several projects like expressways, dedicated freight corridor and medical college have been started. “We are moving forward rapidly towards economic activities with keeping in mind –‘jaan bhi aur jehan bhi’” he said adding that the tourism is an important sector to boost the economy, which would gain momentum shortly. UP has the largest strength of MSME sector to provide employment to the migrant workers.
Yogi said that for China leaving foreign investors UP is the preferred destination. Recently a German company had proposed for investment in UP. “The proposals are pouring in, and we have created teams for this purpose,” he said adding that UP is ready to provide a conducive environment to the foreign investors.
Yogi also highlighted the performance of the six-year tenure of Narendra Modi government at the centre and praised the PM for providing a relief package of Rs. 20 lakh crore to ward off coronavirus crisis.
He said that the centre’s guidelines of Unlock-1 would be implemented strictly. He also targeted the Congress for charging fare of buses for ferrying students from Kota (Rajasthan).
