BJP MLA from Bhadohi, kin booked under gang rape charge

Varanasi: BJP MLA from Bhadohi Ravindra Nath Tiwari and his six kin have been booked under gang rape charge on Wednesday. On the complaint of a woman, an FIR was lodged at Bhadohi police station against BJP MLA and his kin under sections 376 D (gang rape), 313 (causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.

The other accused are Sandeep Tiwari, Sachin Tiwari, Chandrabhooshan Tiwari, Deepak Tiwari, Prakash Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari, all residents of Chauguna, Suriyawa in Bhadohi district.


According to the report, the complainant is the resident of Varanasi. Her husband died in 2007, and she is issueless. She came into contact with an accused Sandeep, who is the nephew of BJP MLA, in a train in May 2014 when she was travelling to Mumbai. She alleged that Sandeep promising marriage with her raped her at a hotel near Varanasi railway station on August 8, 2016.  He also took her to Mumbai and raped her continuously. During assembly polls in 2017, Sandeep took her to Bhadohi, where she was raped by all the accused for one month at a hotel. 


The woman further alleged that she was compelled for abortion when she got pregnant. When she had gone to his village in November 2018, she was abused and threatened to kill her by the accused. Later, Sandeep requested her not to lodge any complaint and also promised for marriage and continued to make physical relation with her. When she insisted on marriage again on February 9, he refused and threatened to kill her.
