Five new cases of COVID-19 found in Varanasi

Varanasi: Five new cases of COVID-19 cases were found in Varanasi on Monday increasing the district’s tally to 187. As many as four patients were discharged from DDU district and ESI hospitals, the number of recovered patients rose to 121. Presently, total active cases in the district are 62.

According to the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, 42 test reports were received from Banaras Hindu University laboratory out of which three cases were found positive for COVID-19.

Among the three new cases, a 65-year-old water pump seller is the resident of Chhamuhani area under Jaitpura police station, a 40-year-old man of Ghazipur, who teaches in a school at Ghaziabad, had been staying at the place of his in-laws in Avaleshpur area of Akhri bypass after arriving the city on March 20, a 65-year-old man of Gadhwasi Tola area, who is a priest and perform religious rituals at the places of his jajmans (clients), a 28-year-old pregnant woman Hanuman Fatak in Adampur area, and a 58-year-old resident of Dharsauna in Cholapur area.

The Gadhwasi Tola in Chowk area, Avaleshpur, Dharsauna and Hanuman Fatak have been declared new hotspots. With it the total number of hotspots in the district has become 96. As 28 hotspots have come in green zones the number of active hotspots in the district has left 68.

Chandauli reports first COVID-19 death

So far, a total of 5,892 samples have been collected in the district for laboratory test. Of them results of 5409 have been found in which 185 were tested as positive. The reports of 483 samples are awaited.
