Corona virus scare continues to grow

Varanasi: The fear of Coronavirus continues to grow among the masses. A group of the workers of the Yuvjan Sabha of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party wishing a protection cover on Kashi to save it from the virus offered a mask to Lord Shiva and performed havan puja at a temple near Kashi Vidyapith on Thursday.

While the management of Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) decided to close the cinema hall as a precautionary measure, the Centre of Vedic Science, Banaras Hindu University has also postponed the three-day national seminar on ‘technology in Vedic science’ scheduled to be held from March 14 to 16 in view of Coronavirus scare.

According to the coordinator Dr Upendra Kumar Tripathi, the inaugural function of the seminar was to be attended by the President Ramnath Kovind and the chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

The seminar was postponed following the advisory of the University Grant Commission issued on March 5. The UGC in its advisory said that as a coordinated and collective effort in a mission mode is needed to combat the threat of Novel Coronavirus, all universities and their affiliated colleges are requested to take necessary precautions and follow the advisory to help in prevention/reduction of the transmission of the virus.
