At present there is a stock of 3,000 PPE kits. The product has been approved by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and SIPRA Lab, he said.

Agrawal has been in the business of Banarasi saree for generations. As the trade was badly hit by the lockdown due to the spread of COVID-19, he started exploring other avenues for his own survival as well as his men. “The unit has been set up with the support from industry department, “he said adding that as the craftsmen are already skilled in garment making and other related works, they easily switched over to this work. The PPE kits would be supplied at a reasonable price within Rs. 500 per kit, he added. Manufacturing PPE kits for the corona warriors gives him satisfaction and a feeling that he is contributing his share in the battle against COVID-19, said Agrawal adding that the unit would be expanded if needed.
