Two arrested for stealing a newborn

Azamgarh: The police arrested two persons for stealing a newborn baby at Gujarpar village in Mubarakpur police station area in Azamgarh district on Thursday. The police also recovered the stolen baby and handed over to the mother.

According to reports, a local resident Babloo Singh’s wife had been issueless for 18 years. The couple desperately wanted a baby. His nephew Roshan Singh made a plan to steal a baby to please his aunt.

Two arrested for stealing a newborn

A lady Vandana, wife of Jayram Gond of the same village had given birth to a baby on July 9. To execute his plan, Roshan stealthily went to Jayram’s house on July 12 night, and stole the baby from the lap of sleeping mother. He took the baby to a private clinic in Azamgarh and got entry of the baby in connivance of staff.

After finding the baby missing Jayram reported the matter to police. Meanwhile, he came to know about the birth of a baby of Babloo’s wife. He informed the police about the matter.

During police interrogation, Babloo and Roshan confessed their crime. Azamgarh SP Triveni Singh said that the arrested persons were sent to jail. Action would also be taken against the staff of clinic.
