26 new COVID-19 cases found in East UP districts

 

Varanasi: As many as 26 persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday in seven districts of eastern UP including Varanasi (2), Azamgarh (10), Ghazipur (4), Ballia (4), Jaunpur (3), Mau (2) and Sonbhadra (1).

With the two new cases in Varanasi, the total number of positive cases rose to 162 in the district. According to Varanasi district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, the two positive cases include an 18-year-old boy of Chhitauna village in Chaubeypur area and another 18-year-old boy of Daniyalpur in Sarnath area. They had returned home from Mumbai.

Among the 162 positive cases 90 have recovered, and four persons had died. Presently, the number of active cases in the district is 68. The total number of hotspots in the district is 82 out of which 24 hotspots have come in green zone, while the number of active hotspots is 58.

According to Azamgarh DM NP Singh, with the detection of 10 new cases the total number of positive cases in the district rose to 65. The new infected persons are from Kharauti Mohammadpur, Mehnagar, Rani ki Sarai and Shivpur Maharjganj,

Mau DM Gyan Prakash Tripathi said that two Mumbai returned youths belong to Dharmpur village and Madao Fatehpur. The total number of positive in the district rose to 22.

According to Ballia DM Hari Pratap Shahi, the four new cases include a 50-year-old woman of Pakadi block, a 23-year-old man  from Shobha Chhapara Muralichhapara, a 40-year-old man from Hridayapur Muralichhapara and a 45-year-old man from Chiranjiv Chhapara. They were shifted to Azamgarh hospital after being tested positive. Presently, the total number of positive cases in Ballia is 35.

A youth of Khempur village in Sonbhadra, who had returned home from Surat by truck on May 14, was tested positive. According to Sonbhadra CMO, the total number of positive cases in the district is seven. With the detection of four new cases in Ghazipur, the total number of positive cases rose to 97.
