Closure of markets in Varanasi city extended till May 3

 

Varanasi: In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases the district administration has decided to extended the closure of markets and all commercial activities except emergency services till May 3.

The grocery, vegetable, milk, medicine and LPG cylinders would be supplied through home delivery services. The decision was taken on Wednesday after the review of rising trend of COVID-19 positive cases in past four days.

As many as 15 positive cases were found in last 24 hours. The district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma held a meeting on Wednesday to finalise the strategy to maintain the supply of all essential goods at the doorsteps. The restriction has been imposed only in the limit of municipal corporation area not in rural areas of the district.
