Legal Aid and Service Clinic holds special programme

Varanasi: Legal Aid and Services Clinic, Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University organised a special interaction program today on Monday.

The chief speaker of the program was Justice (Retd.) Arijit Pasayat, Chairman of Special Investigation Committee on Black Money. He has served as a judge of the Supreme Court of India for nine years and delivered many landmark Judgments. He has also served as the Chief Justice of the Kerala and Delhi High Courts.

He expressed his sorrow and grief on the huge number of pendency of cases in the Indian courts and praised the work of Legal Aid and Services Clinic, BHU (LASC, BHU) in the field of Legal Aid Services and Awareness. He also appealed to everyone present in the program to contribute more and more for Legal Aid and Services so that the justice comes within the reach of the weakest sections of the society. He also recommended LASC, BHU to work in the field of mediation and conciliation and remarked that these methods can be helpful and play a very crucial role in the resolution of considerable number of cases.

Prof RP Rai, Head and Dean, Faculty of Law, BHU welcomed the chief speaker and presented memento and bouquet. Prof. Shailendra Kumar Gupta conducted the proceeding. Senior Prof. Ali Mehdi offered the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by Prof RP Pathak, Head and Dean, Faculty of Social Science, Prof CP Upadhyay, Prof PK Singh, Prof VS Mishra, Prof DK Mishra, Prof Sibaram Tripathi, Prof AK Pandey, Prof Ajendra Srivastava, Dr Raju Manjhi, Dr RK Singh, Dr Adesh Kumar, Dr AK Singh, Dr Anil Kumar Maurya, Dr Anoop Kumar, Dr Gurvinder Singh, Dr Kiran Mishra and Dr Dhirendra Rai. Around 100 students attended this programme.
