Any Special Package for J&K only after 15th Finance Commission Report: FM
Varanasi: After the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and it’s bifurcation into two union territories, the region will have to wait till the report of 15th Finance Commission for any special economic package.
“There is no immediate plan for any special economic package for Jammu and Kashmir, any such package will be decided only after the report of the 15th finance commission “, said union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman while talking to reporters here on Tuesday. She said that the report of the 15th Finance Commission would be presented at the end of November this year.
She visited the city to meet the officials of various departments of her ministry and local businessesmen.
On the issue of economic slowdown being witnessed in the country, she said that there are reports of recession globally and it has to be seen how much it has effected India.
When asked whether the government is discouraging the petrol and diesel operated vehicles for promoting the electric vehicles, she said that promoting the electric vehicles does not mean that the government is not worried about the petrol and diesel operated vehicles.
She added that the government is taking proper care of small and medium scale industry and farming, which are the foundation of Indian economy. Besides the problems being faced by banking and non-banking sectors are also being looked into, she added.
On defence budget, especially in the backdrop of present bitter relation between India and Pakistan, she said that the government has already enhanced the budget and trying to fill the gap of defence procurement that was delayed during the ten years of rule of the Congress party.
While interacting with the officials of the income tax, GST and Costoms, she said that by Vijaydashmi festival , the department should 100 percent switch over to the functioning on the ‘faceless system’ developed by the ministry. She also launched an app called GST Sampark on the occasion.
