No relaxation in lockdown in Varanasi from April 20
No new activity including opening of government offices would be allowed: DM
Varanasi: No new activity would be allowed in the district from Monday (April 20) onward till further order.
The district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma on Sunday said that the state government has left the decision on the administration of 19 districts where COVID-19 positive cases are more than 10. These districts would have to decide whether to open activities or not from April 20.
In Varanasi, no new activity including the opening of government offices would be allowed from Monday, said the DM. “No new freedom, All will be like today,” said the DM adding that only MANREGA workers would be allowed for work. “There will be no industrial and construction activity in the district. If necessary separate permission can be given on case to case basis,” he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week had said areas that do not have any hotspots or show improvement in reducing the number of cases will see some relaxation in the lockdown. He had announced extension of the national lockdown till 3 May.
