Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has secured its place among 1000 global educational institutions.
According to the QS World University Ranking 2021 released on Wednesday, BHU is among the select 21 Indian institutions who made it to the list of 1000.
According to BHU spokesperson Rajesh Singh, in the Subject wise ranking BHU has further improved its record in Agriculture and Forestry and secured 201-250 rank. University’s Research Output has been categorized as High. BHU has recently been elevated to the Institution of Eminence by MHRD, Government of India.

The varsity aims to figure in top global 500 institutions. Keeping this in mind BHU has been giving a new push to research activities. Besides, the university is also putting a greater focus on collaborations with international institutions.
According to the list of QS World University Ranking 2021, Only three educational institutes of India including Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Indian Institute of Science and IIT Delhi are in the list of top 200 institutions. IIT Bombay ranked 172 while IISc, Bengaluru and IIT Delhi were at the 185th and 193rd spots respectively.
IIT Madras is ranked at 275 while IIT Kharagpur was at the 314th spot. Delhi University was ranked in the 501-510 slot. A total of 21 institutes from India made it to the list of 1,000 educational institutions in the world.
In QS World University Rankings, the institutes are evaluated on six metrics, which include academic reputation (40 percent weightage), employer reputation (10 percent), faculty/student ratio (20 percent), citations per faculty (20 percent), international faculty ratio/student ratio (5 percent each).
