Coronavirus infects 60 more

Varanasi: As many as 60 more persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in last 24 hours in the district increasing the tally to 858 on Sunday.

According to daily medical bulletin, the reports of 362 samples were received from BHU lab on Sunday, while the reports of 1.621 samples are awaited. So far, the samples of 15,682 persons have been collected for testing.

According to the Varanasi CMO Dr. VB Singh, three patients were discharged after they recovered from illness. So far 438 patients have recovered, while 27 infected persons had died. Presently, there are 393 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.

Meanwhile, district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma inspected the newly created level-1 facility at Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) hospitals. This hospital has 105 beds. So far 78 patients have been admitted to this hospital.

Varanasi DM said that all the commercial activities would be allowed till 4 pm from Monday to Saturday. Saturday and Sunday would be observed as weekly closure. No one be allowed to go out of home from 5 pm to 6 am. The hospitals, medicine shops, factories and government construction projects have exempted from the restriction. Strict action would be taken against the violators of the restriction.

With six more persons found infected with coronavirus in Ballia, the tally rose to 374 in the district. Presently, there are 189 active cases of COVID-19 in Ballia district. With three new cases of COVID-19, the tally rose to 259 in Mau district on Sunday.

In Mirzapur district, 10 more persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 increasing the tally to 245. As many as 123 of them have become cured while 119 are being treated in different hospitals.
