Gerard Butler’s spiritual journey to Kashi
The New Year 2020 for Gerard Butler, Scottish actor and film producer, began as a spiritual sojourn with the holy Ganga in the millennia-old city Varanasi.
During his stay in this temple town he did all that could satiate his spiritual yearning –he took a holy dip in the Ganga, mediated in the serene ambience of Aghor Foundation in Samne Ghat locality, and roamed along the majestic riverfront.
He also interacted with Avinav Peshwani and other local residents to feel the mystical pulse of the city. He was also photographed with a neurologist at Banaras Hindu University Dr Vijay Nath Mishra while flying to New Delhi on Thursday.
Butler gained worldwide recognition for his portrayal of King Leonidas in Zack Snyder’s fantasy war film 300, which earned him nominations for an Empire Award for Best Actor and a Saturn Award for Best Actor.
He portrayed Secret Service agent Mike Banning in the action thriller trilogy Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen, and Angel Has Fallen. He played military leader Tullus Aufidius in the 2011 film Coriolanus, a modernized adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy of the same name.
