COVID-19 : Former MP Ramakant Yadav booked

Varanasi: After Agra and Lucknow, the Azamgarh police lodged FIR in connection with COVID-19 (coronavirus) threat.

 

The police booked a turncoat Samajwadi Party leader and former MP Ramakant Yadav for allegedly fanning confusion among people regarding coronavirus after his video footage went viral on social media on Saturday.

 

On the instruction of the DIG Azamgarh range Subhash Dubey, an FIR was lodged at Sidhari police station against Yadav under section 3 of Epidemic Disease Act of 1897, 505, 188, 269 and 511 of IPC. Yadav will be issued a notice to give his statement.

 

In the video Yadav is heard claiming that COVID-19 is a fraud and being propagated to divert attention of people from the issues of Citizenship (Amendment) Act, NRC, inflation and others and stop their protests. He said he is ready to hug COVID-19 affected and keep them with him.
