Varanasi: The district administration has sought help from religious circles and NGOs in arranging food for the outside daily wagers, who are trapped in the city due to the lockdown.
A number of daily wages labourers and workers from other states are unable to return home after the lockdown declared in the district in the wake of COVID-19 threat.
The district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that information has been received that around 40 such labourers are stranded in Badi Gaibi locality in Bhelupur area. Efforts are being made to arrange food for them.
“All the maths, anna kshetras, temples, mosques and NGOs are appealed to come forward to solve the food problem of these labourers who are unable to go home,” said the DM adding that they are urged to arrange food for them with their own resources.
Any dhabha or restaurant, if ready to serve meal to them, would be granted permission to operate for this purpose, he said adding that appropriate payment would be made for this service. Interested organization can contact the ADM (finance) in this regard.
