Nukkad Natak highlights PM Modi’s initiative of ‘Digital India’

It spreads awareness among traders in Varanasi about cashless transactions

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of ‘Digital India Campaign’ that aims at empowering the rural population while eliminating the middlemen, is now being promoted by young artistes in collaboration with Mastercard.

Under the initiative, nukkad natak (street play) was staged by young artistes at Visheshwar Galla Mandi, Maduadih Mandi, Pandeypur Market, and Chandmari Market in Varanasi recently.

A large number of traders and people from different sections of the society joined this campaign. The artistes told people about digital education and digital payments during the nukkad natak presented in a new style. This helped in spreading awareness about digital transactions among the common people along with the traders present there.

Vivek Kumar Jaiswal, a jaggery trader and one of the spectators said, “The nukkad natak organized by MasterCard was appreciated by all of us. It has brought awareness among us and the other traders of Vishveshwarganj Galla Mandi. Carrying cash is risky, it is better that we use MasterCard for digital transactions.”

Another trader Saurabh Kumar Gupta said, “The nukkad natak organized in Galla Mandi was very interesting and wonderful experience. It has brought awareness among citizens. From now onwards, even I will try to contribute in digital transactions.”
